Tao Collection...the way of order in time and space
Designed by Wolfgang C.R. Mezger
For centuries, the teachings of Tao Te Ching - the Chinese book of universal wisdom - has served as "the Way" to personal fulfillment in everyday living.
Today, the Tao philosophy extends to the work place, inspiring enhanced job performance, supportive space planning and effective time management. For Davis, it has simply become…"the Way" of work space management.
Unlike the solid, boxy configurations of standard case goods, Tao establishes a balance between negative and positive space…between form, design and function. The Tao work environment is made up of three levels - the Primary and Intermediate Levels - both consisting of tops, and the Support Level - a combination of legs, connectors, spacers and containers. |

|
The multi-level arrangement of top surfaces and supports promote enhanced productivity by meeting the needs of both task-specific and task-related job functions. Floating and cantilevered tops increase work surfaces…pedestal containers offer support as well as contemporary storage…and pivoting legs and connectors provide the unique benefit of system mobility.
The combination of wood and painted finishes, along with metal finish selections, enhances the contemporary appeal of Tao. Configurations may be specified in a single finish or in contrasting finishes and veneers. Tops and containers are available in ten new TAO Coate finishes on Ash, and standard wood finishes on Beech and Cherry veneers. A natural Sycamore veneer is also available only on primary tops and container door and drawer fronts.

Modularity
Because of the modularity of Tao, modifications of standard units offer even more flexibility to this collection without a lot of cost.
As shown, a tandem work unit was designed by using standard items and a special credenza top.
The back top credenza surface was specified to a specific length to fit the footprint of the space. Return tops extending from this top are standard items as well as the pivoting round tops.
This unit offers data support for both users with articulating keyboards and power/data units under top surfaces.
Wood modesty panels are on both return tops offering privacy on approach side |

| T/C Towers |

T/C Towers offers a functional design solution addressing the needs of vertical storage, additional horizontal work surfaces, and data support. It also provides a means to create return units with Tao desks. The flexibility of the vertical towers allows for a modular design attitude offering three heights and unlimited arrangements. Options include media cabinets, paper management, binder storage, computer support, wire management, fabric back panels and task lighting.
The Davis Design Team created T/C Towers to complement both the Tao Collection and the Cosmo Collection. When specified with a Tao unit the hardware and edges of work surfaces are the same as offered on Tao. Please refer to the T/C Towers section or current Davis Price List for complete information. |
